Step 6: Readiness for Change
"Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character."
Step 6 is about preparation and willingness. It invites us to look at the character traits, patterns, and behaviors that no longer serve us — and become truly ready to let them go. The word “entirely” is powerful. It’s a spiritual turning point where we say: “I’m done living this way.”
🪞What Are Character Defects?
They're not about being a bad person. They’re about recognizing the coping mechanisms — fear, anger, dishonesty, selfishness — that once protected us, but now cause harm. Step 6 is about being willing to trade these for peace, integrity, and grace.
🧠 Reflection Questions
- What parts of my character continue to create chaos?
- Am I truly ready to let them go — or am I still holding on?
- What would my life feel like without those patterns?
