Step 5: Confession & Honesty

Step 5 builds on the work of Step 4 by moving from internal awareness to external honesty. This step asks us to speak our truth — to release shame, secrecy, and guilt by sharing our inventory with someone we trust.

What we hide keeps power over us. Step 5 is an act of spiritual release. Speaking our truth to another human being brings freedom, connection, and humility. It reminds us: we are not alone — and we are not beyond redemption.
