Unity for Recovery was founded on a simple but powerful principle: that the path to a "daily reprieve" from alcoholism is found through action and shared experience.
A Foundation of Experience, Strength, and Hope
This site is written by Jimmy, an alcoholic who has been a member of the recovery community since the 1980s.
Like many on this path, that journey hasn't been a straight line. Having experienced periods of 18 months, 3 years, and 6 years of sobriety at various stages, he learned a vital truth: meetings alone and knowledge alone are often not enough to sustain a life in recovery.
It was only by working the Twelve Steps as the program offers—and finding the Power described in the Big Book—that a lasting transformation occurred. Today, with 9 years of continuous sobriety, he shares what has worked with others in the same spirit it was given.
In keeping with the tradition of anonymity in Alcoholics Anonymous, only a first name is used.
Our Mission
We aim to share practical experience and guidance rooted in the original AA message. We aren't here to replace the work, but to point to the literature, the steps, and the unity that allows us to do together what we could never do alone.
